Adela has been practicing dental hygiene for 15 years, and is still practicing full time clinical hygiene at Midtown Dental Associates in Austin, TX. She also teaches part time Clinical Hygiene and Research Methods at Concorde Career College in San Antonio. Since becoming certified in the Coulson Method of Orofacial Myology, Adela has lectured to the San Antonio Dental Hygiene Society, as well as at the 31st Federal Dental Hygiene Symposium on the topic of Orofacial Myology and the role of the dental hygienist in recognizing the need for myofunctional intervention. She is currently in the process of becoming certified through the International Association of Orofacial Myology and the early stages of writing a book. When she is not working, Adela enjoys spending time with her family and watching her toddler grow before her very eyes. Traveling, dancing, listening to live music, and exercising are all things you can find Adela doing while she's away from work! Having personally dealt with extensive orthodontic treatment, and more recently with Bell's Palsy along with the realization of the consequences of untreated posterior tongue tie, Adela has a new found passion for helping others with the Orofacial Myology and its plethora of benefits. Having been born and raised in Laredo, Adela is very comfortable offering therapy services in English and/or Spanish. She received her A.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene in 2006 from Del Mar College, as well as her BS Degree in Occupational Training and Development in 2009 from Texas A & M, both in Corpus Christi. Her MS in Dental Hygiene with an emphasis in Public Health was attained in 2014 from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
